Features

GIF.ti provides the following features

Input

  • GIF file from the computer
  • GIF file from the web (just provide the url)

Text

  • Write text messages with any of the following settings
    • font (loaded from system fonts)
    • font-style (italic/regular)
    • font-weight (normal/bold)
    • font-size
    • color
    • background color
    • fill, stroke, both
    • stroke width
    • stroke color
    • stroke offset (for 3d effect)
  • Automatic text box height adjustment - set text width and let the height automatically expand as you type
    • Note: height is not automatically reduced when text or settings are adjusted. This allows having a larger background with desired height if necessary by explicitly setting a larger height
  • Rotate and move the text messages to desired orientation and position
  • Span the text messages to many frames with simple and intuitive dragging and resizing of spans
  • Specify default settings and only selectively override for individual text elements as needed
  • Use multi-lingual text messages (Awesome animations, बहुत बढ़िया एनिमेशन, Чудові анімації, 很棒的动画, 素晴らしいアニメーション)
  • Use emojis (🤣 ☎️ 🧲)
  • Use the WYSIWYG editor to enter text messages inline within the image.
    • Note: while editing the text, we display it normally ignoring the rotation to make it feel normal to type the message

Effects

One or more of the following efffects can be added to your text either to draw attention or just for fun

  • blink
  • fly in (at the start)
  • fly out (at the end)
  • grow (at the start)
  • shrink (at the end)
  • jitter
  • scroll (repeats)
  • type

Even though it is possible to apply multiple effects at the same time, below are some guidelines

  • Don't apply too many effects as it can be very distracting
  • Scrolling effect is best suitable when the text spans a single line
  • Only Scrolling effect or Typing effect can be in effect, not both
  • Complementary features like fly-in and fly-out are implemented one at the beginning of the text span and the other at the end of the span. Hence, by using both effects, it would appear to fly-in and then fly-out

Frames

  • Hide some of the animation frames (screen recording is never perfect)
  • Change the duration of an individual frame (to ensure the user got that important message)

UI

  • Watch your creativity come to life with live preview of each change
  • In-built player allows previewing how the final image will look like without exporting it
  • Zoom/Pan the image frames
  • Swipe left/right to quickly review several adjacent frames
  • Use thumbnails ribbon to quickly access the desired frame
  • Use Find option to list all the added texts in chronological order of animation and select any to directly go to the corresponding frame

Optimization

  • The exported images are optimized for size
    • If original image is not optimized, the exported image can be much smaller in size
    • If original image is already optimized, the exported image adds very little overhead but depends on the amount of content you added and their settings
Effects

Using the various effects can drastically impact the exported gif file size

File Integration

  • Save your settings as a GIF.ti project file (.gifti) that can be used to edit from where you left off. This helps going back and forth with your client or internal stakeholders to iterate and create the best outcome.
  • Open a .gifti project file by clicking it, GIF.ti app is automatically launched or a running instance will open the selected project
  • Open GIFti by using Open with menu option on a gif file

Help

  • Just use the "H" key to toggle inline navigation help

Watermark

GIF.ti is offered as a freemium software. The free version includes all the features but contains a GIF.ti watermark in the exported images. The watermark can be removed using the in-app purchases.
